ABOUT THE PTA
The MCHL Parent Teacher Association (PTA) strengthens our family units, our school, and our community through parent/family involvement. We welcome and encourage all parents to take an active role in the MCHL community. Please consider being a part of the MCHL Parent Teacher Association. You can contact a board member (below) to see how you can help. Also, please join us for our PTA meetings which are usually on the third Thursday of every month during the school year.

We’ve made it easier to get the latest news from the MCHL Parent Teacher Association! Join the PTA Google Group so you can receive email notifications of events. Please include your child’s name in the additional information box so we can verify your enrollment.
Please know that we are concerned for the safety of your children. The PTA Google Group is not listed in the Google Groups listing and is a private group—all memberships must be verified by a PTA board member who ensures your family is enrolled at MCHL.
We also appreciate that you may already be inundated with email, so messages from the group will be kept to a minimum as only moderators will be allowed to post. We will not sell or share your email address with anyone.

PTA FUNDRAISING
You can help fund activities for the MCHL children such as the Pumpkin Patch, parties, Kindergarten field trips, and the end-of-year picnic. In addition to fundraising events held throughout the year, MCHL is enrolled in programs which earn money for our school when you purchase groceries and other products. Each time you shop, a portion of your total purchase will be donated to our school.
Amazon School Rewards
Giant A+
When you shop at Giant, present your Giant Card and you will automatically earn points for MCHL. Each month, the amount of cash awarded will be updated on the Giant website. Our school will receive a check at the end of the program.
Harris Teeter Together in Education (TIE)

PAST PTA ACTIVITIES
The MCHL PTA sponsors many activities throughout the year. Here are some things we have done in the past:

PTA BY-LAWS
Every level of PTA has by-laws—the local units, councils, districts, state, and even the National PTA operate within the guidelines of a by-law document.
By-laws represent the most important legal document of an association, establishing and protecting the rights of the membership. A unit’s by-laws link the association to the Virginia PTA/PTSA and National PTA by which they are chartered. It represents the written contract between the general membership and their elected officials, specifying what duties and responsibilities are assigned to each respective group. For these reasons, it is extremely important that all by-laws be current, clear in content, and accurately represent the way a local unit conducts the business of the association.
The MCHL PTA must amend its by-laws to conform with the Virginia State PTA’s current by-laws every five years.
In order to make our by-laws official, all MCHL PTA members should review our amended by-laws. These by-laws are the requirements and roles that govern our PTA’s activities. We all have a voice! Please contact the PTA board to obtain the by-laws.
The MCHL PTA general membership has reviewed the proposed amendments and voted for approval. Members were present to vote, and at least two-thirds vote of the members present approved the by-laws.
JOIN THE PTA
Our vision is to make each MCHL school year the most enriching, educational, and exciting experience for our children. We promote quality education and a true partnership between home and school.
As a local member, you are automatically a member of the state PTA and the National PTA. For just $20 per family, you will be paying the annual dues for MCHL, state, and the National PTA. Your dues allow the PTA to fund the kindergarten field trips as well as the in-house events like the Pumpkin Patch, the Kay Dee Puppet show, and the One-Man Band show. The MCHL PTA is a wonderful group of parents working side by side with a shared vision in mind to provide the absolute best for our children!
